Competitive Team Program
Gymnastics & More’s competitive team program is designed for the gymnast who is proficient with all the skills required in our recreational class programs. Once they have achieved those skills (USA Gymnastics Levels 1-2), they are invited to train with our Level 3 (Xcel Bronze) competitive team who will train Level 4 skills in hopes of moving up to our competitive Level 4/Xcel Silver (or higher) team. We have girls and boys competitive gymnastics.
Our team program maintains the same philosophy of Gymnastics & More: To build self-esteem through fitness and fun AND to teach the sport in a safe and fun environment while raising the child’s level of self-esteem. Our team program also includes certain coaching goals: To provide the mental and physical discipline needed for competition within a framework of positive reinforcement and encouragement. Learning to be comfortable in a competitive situation is a positive experience and adds to a child’s development.
We established our team in 1994 and have won a South Carolina State Championship Team Title every year. That means from 1994-2024, at least one Ocean Flipper Team was crowned STATE CHAMPION. Every year we have several individual All-Around State Champions, as well as event champions, regional & National Qualifiers . Our first graduating senior from high school earned a full gymnastics scholarship to the University of North Carolina. Since then, our combined coaching staff, past and present have had over 140 gymnasts receive college gymnastics scholarships at Brockport, Hamline, NC State, Michigan State, Western Michigan, Arizona State, William & Mary, Ithaca, Towson, and offers from many more, as well as many Acro & Tumbling Scholarships! We have also had and 3 on the Junior National Team.
